Hello hello! It’s time for another installment of Art Everyday!
Since the site is back up, these posts will be frequent again!
I know you must be excited, I am too.
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know that I spend a lot of time at Vigilante Coffee.
They roast their own beans, and only have macchiatos in “macchiato size,” and I appreciate it.
But I digress.
On my way to feed my habit (and hopefully get some work done), I ran into Natalia sitting in front of one of the many nondescript offices around Downtown Hyattsville.
She sat enveloped in a blanket of shade, preoccupied by her phone. As per usual, my crippling fear of interaction caused me to walk by, then stop and turn around.
I knew I had to take a shot.
I approached, and in my normal, terribly awkward way, I introduced myself.
“Hi this is weird but I’m doing a project where I take photos of random strangers. Would you mind, this shot is just too good to pass up.”
She obliged, and I handed her my card.
It’s at this point that I realized that I A) didn’t actually introduce myself, and B) didn’t as for her name (which is supremely important for this project because ya know names are important).
It was at this point that she said “You have an awesome last name, Aladdin is one of my favorite Disney movies.”
Me being me, I stated, “I’m really not a fan,” which probably has something to do with endless torment in my childhood.
I’ve slowly started to realize I’m more of a Jungle Book person.
Again, I digress.
I snap the shot, tell her thank you, and off I go to dose up on a flat white.
Today is already a good day for me, I hope it is for you as well.
